This region is known for its Riesling, but other wines of high quality are also produced here.

This region stretches from Baden-Baden to Offenburg along the western side of the Black Forest, and is known for its extraordinary Riesling, whch is called Klingelberger, but also Müller-Thurgau and Spätburgunder are grown in large quantities. Wines of great class are produced on erosion soils, clay, and loess. The Affentaler Spätburgunder is a specialty made in the northern part of Ortenau by Baden-Baden.

The filling into Bocksbeutel is a peculiarity of the area, and it is done in Neuweier, Steinbach, Umweg, and Vamhalt.
