Since the 90's this has been one of the top regions. In the hilly hot region the best Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay of Australia.
This is Austrialia's hottest region is east of Adelaide, in the Mount Lofty Rangers. The landscape is hilly, the higest vineyards are at a height of 55m above sea-level. The soil conditions are various with partially sandy and partially iron-blended clay soils.
Next to the very good and well-known Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay excellent Pinot Noir wines are made here. The wines are only rarely produced by the vintners themselves. There are generally contracts with large producers.
