This region has belonged to the absolute elite since the 1990's. Australia's best Sauvignon Blanc and Chadonnay are produced in the hilly hot region.
This is Australia's hottest region. It lies east of Adelaide, in the Mount Lofty Rangers. The landscape is hilly, the highest vineyards are at about 500m above sea-level. The soil conditions are variable with partially sandy and partially iron clay.
Next to the excellent and well-known Sauvignon Blanc and Chadonnay wines, there are also excellent Pinot Noir wines here. The wines are only rarely processed by the vintners themselves. There a generally contracts with large producers.
