The Big Rivers Zone is a very large portion of New South Wales. Its stretching westwards from the Lachlan River at Forbes to the south Australian border near Cockburn.
This area is hot and dry. If ther were not the four big rivers Murray, Darling, Murrumbidgee and Lachlan, it would be proper arid. Irrigation ist necessary for viticulture. The zone includes the four wine regions Murray-Darling (see also Victoria), Swan Hill (see also Victoria), Riverina and Perricoota.
