The cool climate gives the wine an elegance that can compare them to European wines. The Chardonnay is the most expensive. The grapes rom Cowra are sold to many Australian regions to better thir white and sparkling wines. The largest progress was made in the 1990's.
The hilly landscape gives the vines optimal conditions. The sites are fairly high at about 500m above sea-level.
Next to the famous Chardonnay wines that succeed particularily well here, white wines are also made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and some Verdelho. The red wines are made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir. Modern production methods dominate. |
