Mátraalja is a region for quality wines because of the geological conditions. The wines, mostly white wines, are rich in bouquets, fresh, and full-bodied.
Mátraalja uses the very optimal geological conditions, because of the combination of the trace elements and assortment of rock and the warm climate, and so quality wines are made here. Hungary's Muscat is from Mátraalja .

The wines from Mátraalja present themselves as fresh, the acidity is good, the body is strong and rich in bouquet.

The most important vines are the Welsh Riesling, Riesling-Sylvan, Leányka, Hárslevelú, Traminer, and Chardonnay.

The wine centers of Mátraalja are Abasár, Domoszló, Gyöngyös, Gyöngyöspata, Gyöngyöstarján, and Nagyréde.

White wines dominate, red wine production has been reduced to a very small quantity.
