In this hospitable village good wine are sold at reasonable prices. The red wines are light, and should be drunk young. Only little white wine is made.
The light red wines made here have a bouquet of berries, often with an intense hint of iolet, raspberries, and flowers. The wines from the appellation Savigny-lés-Beaune have an especiallyly fruity charm. They should be drunk young. The fuller Premiers Crus have lots of finesse and can be stored 7-15 years. Next to the community appellation there are also 23 Premiers Crus.
One must differentiate between the lighter sandstone soils of the south, and the clay and sandstone soils of the north, which have parts of iron. Wines from sandstone should be drunk young, while the best wines from clay soils have a certain potential for storage.
Red wines are made from Pinot Noir, and white wines from Chardonnay.
