Fruity, soft red wines are made under this collective appellation. The prices are equal to the quality.
Most of the villages of Côte de Beaune as well as three others in the Departement Saône et Loire are in this appellation. The appellation only concentrates on red wines, that are fruity and kept in the soft Beaune-stye.
The wine can come from any of the 16 communities. Excepted from this are only Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, and Aloxe-Corton. All communities may sell their wines under their name. The name Côte de Beaune-Villages is especially for those villages where white wine production dominates, or for fairly unknown villages.
The appellation us for Pinot Noir, and a bit of Pinot Gris.
