Both IPR regions Arrábida and Palmela belong to this DOC. Long-living and full red wines are made from Castelao Frances.
J.M. da Fonseca founded his wine-company here in 1834. This region got its DOC status in 1907.

This peninsula south of Lisbon profits from tourism. Vines grow between Azeitao and te Atlantic on chalk-rich ground.

Mostly table wines are made in Arrábida and Palmela. The most famous wine is the Moscatel de Setúbal. This sweet and strong wine even has its own DOC. The longer it is stored the darker it becomes. It gets its typical character after only six years, after 25 years it is much softer, darker, and this taste and bouquet remind of honey. A sometimes 100-year-old Moscadel is the Torna-Viagem. A mentionable red wine is the Quinta da Cacalhoa with its currant-type taste. The Palmela aus Joao Pires is one of the regions good white wines. This dry white wine is made from early-harvest Muscat grapes. The region's vines are Moscatel de Setúbal, Moscatel Roco, Cabernet Sauvignon, Periquita, and Merlot.
