This region known as a tourist's paradise makes red and white wines of high alcohol content with low acidity and some yeasty character.
Algarve has been Regiao Demarcada since 1978. This southernmost region of Portugal is made up of the four new DOCs Lagoa, Lagos, Portimao, and Tauria. The vines grown are Tinta Negra Mole, Periquita, Bastardo, Crato Preto, Monvedro, Moreto (red), and Crato Branco, Boais, Manteúdo, and Tamarez (white).
