Viniculture goes back to the Romans here. In Tessin's two regions, Sopraceneri in the north and Sottoceneri in the south there is a Mediterranean climate, which , in combination with geological conditions, is perfect for Merlot. In good years the Merlot has supreme quality that can be further processed to Barrique.
Further types are Pinot Noir, Nostrano - a cross between Bondola, Freisa, Nebbiolo, Banarda and Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Chasselas, Kerner and Chardonnay.
