Sopron, a region hundreds of years old, is especially known for its Sopron Blaufrankisch. But white wines of high quality are produced as well.
Sopron is a wine region with a wine tradition that is hundreds of years old. It lies near the East-Austrian border and has its origin in the Austrian wine region of Burgenland.

The climate is of high precipitation and cool, the soil conditions aren't really optimal. For this reason the red wines have a definite acidity and mostly have unripe tannins. White wines can reach high quality if processed properly in cellars.

The red Sopron Bluefrankish is very famous, but also the white wines are important. The most important white vines are the Green Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer, Leányka, and Chardonnay.

The wine tourist with find many sights from the Middle Ages paired with a truly beautiful landscape.
