In Hungary's very warm region there are full-bodied wines, mostly whites, that are made traditionally. The centers are Pécs, Pécsvárad, Mecseknádasd, Kóvágószölös, and Cserkút
The region Mecsekalja has optimal climatic and geological conditions. It is one of Hungary's warmest regions, but WW II practically brought it to a standstill, and its revival has taken a long time.
This is why the traditional, and a little old-fashioned method brings forth full-bodied wines with plump aciditym and a high rest sugar.
The production of white wines dominates, The Zierfandler is the most important vine, but the Welsh Riesling and the Chardonnay are also processed.
This region offers sights in landscape and culture for the wine tourist.
