This is where the best white vines of the Champagne region are cultivated. Blanc-de-Blancs-Cuvées grapes are delivered to all the champagne houses.

Chardonnay dominates in this region, and is grown in the Grand Cru Chouilly, and its surrounding vineyards. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier only play a small part, The famous Château de Saran von Moet and Mumms are from the neighboring Grand Cru town Cramant. The vineyards face east. The vines grow on chalk and clay soils, that contain white gravel that reflects the sun.
