The province has about 12.657 ha. growing area, split into Baja Montana, Ribera Baja, and Ribera Alta, Valdizarbe, and Tierra de Estela. Navarra, in the northeast of the peninsula, as two climate condtions: In the North it is cold and moist, and in the South, on the River Ebro, it is dry and milder like in Spain's center.
Today Navarra is also famous for its rosés, they are known as Spain's best. The young wines, that are made with a mixture of carbonic acid are also noteworthy.
The typical vines are the red Garnacha Tinta, Tempranillo (very suitable for processing in oak barrels), Graciano, and Mazuelo and the white Garnacha Blanca, Viura, and Malvasía. Chadonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon, and Cabernet are also cultivated.
