Ampurdán-Costa Brava (DO) is in the province of Girona in Spain's northeast, south of the Pyrenees. There is a growing area of about 2.640 ha, where the white Macabeo und Xarel-lo vines, and the red Cariñena and Garnacha Tinta vinesa re cultivated.
Rosé wines are without doubt the most typical wines of this area.
Because the north winds blows so hard on this coast, the vintners have to tie the vines to sticks. This tradition is called "Tramontana" among the Catalonians.
