Alella (DO) is north of Barcelona, and only has a growing area of 525 ha., where only white vinesa re raised. The vines are grown on granite inclines, that are protecte from the strong winds that blow from Spain's East. The wines from the North have high acidity while the wines from the South are sweeter and have less acidity.
The msot important vines are the Pansa Rosada, Xarel-Lo, Garnacha Blanca, Chardonnay, and Cheric Blanc. There are also red vines like Tempranillo, Garnacha Peluda, and Garnacha Tinta.
