The typical wines from Valdepeñas are the red with rubyred color. This color comes from the mixture of the Airén vine (white) and Cencibel (red). The Airén vine give the blend an aromatic bouquet, but is poor in acidity. The red Cencibel gives the mixture the red color as well as extracts, so that even if 90% of the mixture is Airén, the color remains red. The white winesa re also important, and they resemble those from la Mancha.
