Andalusia is in Spain's South. The climate of this region is very hot during the summer, and mild in winter, and is an important reason for the development of tourism on the Costa del Sol.
Andalusia gives off the picture that the rest of the world has of Spain: sun, bullfights, siesta, and Spanish wine. Wine plays an important role in Andalusia's society. The practivce of taking a wine as an aperitif before meals and 'tapas' is very popular in the Bodegas.
The Andalusian wines like those from Condado de Huelva, Jerez, Montilla Moriles, and Málaga are very old, highly alcoholic complicated wines with character, that are very different from each other. Examples for these are the sweet Pedro Ximenez, Fino, Manzanilla, and Palo Cortado wines.
Andalusia's wines are international, but mostly 'Spanish'.
