Huelva is located in Andalusia's southeast, and borders on Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. Huelva has a DO, Condado de Huelva, that is concetrated on the white table wines, the 'generosos' (made like Sherry), as well as wines meant for destillation.
This DO has about 6.000 ha growing area that mostly raise the following white wines: Palomino, Pedro Ximenez, Garrido Fino, and Pedro Luis.
The "generosos" (also ripened in 'soleras') resemble Sherry types, also called "amontillado, oloroso ..." but they are missing the finesse of their famous neighbor. |
