The Balearic Islands are in the Mediterranean in Spain's East, and the Canary Islands are in the Atlantic ocean opposite the African coast. Both groups are very different, they only have tourism in common. The tourists are the main reason that more wine is drunk that produced here.
The Balearic islands have a DO called Binisalem. The Canary Islands have the following DOs: El Hierro, La Palma, Lanzarote, Tacoronte-Acentejo, Valle de Güímar, Valle de la Orotava, Ycoden-Daute-Isora, and Abonay El Monte.
Wine production is small on both groups. This is why one finds more wines from the Spanish mainland in restaurants than regional types.
