Otago is the southernmost wine-region in the world. Viniculture was started 120 years ago, the best vines are the Rhine Riesling.

The mow-famous vintners established themselves in recent years and mostly produce quality wines. The best wines of the region are sweet, fruity choice wines from Rhine Riesling. Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are also cultivated.
